Why Kishore Da Said 'I Will Not Sing For Amitabh Anymore' -
Playback Singer Kishore Kumar temporarily stopped giving playback singing for Amitabh Bachchan, after Mr Bachchan did not agree to a guest appearance in Kishore Kumar production - Mamta ki Chaon Mein.
They were already having some issues prior to that. In movie Trishul & Alaap, Yesudas gave the playback for Amitabh. Whereas Alaap songs were classical in nature, songs of Trishul were not. Though Kishore Kumar gave the playback singing for Shashi Kapoor in Trisul, he still made his displeasure known to all.
Kishore Kumar gave many hit songs in Manmohan Desai movies for Amitabh, but it was an open secret that Manmohan Desai & his music directors LP, favoured Mohd. Rafi, even for Amitabh Bachchan.
Kishore Kumar was an eccentric man, prone to mood swings whereas Amitabh Bachchan liked discipline & order.
Kishore Kumar was more an imitator cum improviser. SD & RD understood that Kishore Kumar gave his best when he was given a semi-finished song for practice, which he improvised & later came prepared for final recording. Only those music directors who knew that quality of KK, extracted the best results from Kishore Kumar. The outcome was that in a duet song, or same songs in multiple singer versions, Kishore Kumar always sounded better than others.
Most of Kishore Kumar hit songs are with SD Burman, RD Burman, Rajesh Roshan & Kalyanji Anandji, Bappi Lahiri (to a lesser extent).
When Kishore Kumar refused to sing for Amitabh, Manmohan Desai introduced Mohd. Rafi imitators, Shabbir Kumar & Mohd. Aziz. This further increased the cold war. Finally, Bappi Lahiri brought the truce & made Kishore Da give the memorable songs of Sharabi for Amitabh B.
Today, if you look back to Amitabh’s history(or any other super star of the time), you can’t imagine Amitabh’s stardom without Kishore’s songs.
Although he got some songs from Rafi and Mukesh, but they were countable on fingers.
Kishore Kumar’s voice was the life line of many stars of the era. His songs were super hits with all the actors, whether they were successful or not. Almost all heroes gave super hit songs with Kishore, irrespective of story/situation etc. He had a great talent of matching his voice according to the actor. He was not restricted to any particular mood and sang all kind of super hits, like comedy, gazal, sad, love, duet, etc.
Amitabh could not give memorable songs without Kishore. It was proved after KK’s death. According to his wishes, when he died(1987), his body was brought to the beautiful town of Khandwa(Kishore da and my home town) for last rituals and many big stars(even Rajesh Khanna) came to Khandwa, but Amithabh did not come. You can see that it was final end of the Amitabh song era.
He tried with other singers with little success(like Mard, Hum, Khuda Gawah, etc.), but could not bring the same effect.
Amitabh is ego-centric fellow.Many have been hurt by Amitabh.Kishore was no exception to it.Had Kishore been eccentric or indisciplined ,he couldn't have given umpteenth good numbers for Amitabh.With Kishoreda's refusal,Amitabh's Era ,as an angry young man came to an end.Amitabh owes a lot to Kishoreda and he should have been grateful to Kishoreda.Merely blaming Kishoreda's whims and fancies would not do.He was child-like innocent.
ReplyDeleteKishoreda was also equally responsible for Amitabhs popularity as he belted out one hit after another for Amitabh, specially under the music direction of Panchamda. So, Kishoreda was by no means indisciplined. He commanded more respect and was more popular than Amitabh even now

ishore boycotted singing for Amitabh in a movie of purnchandra rao i n 85 or 86 after sharabi. there was news in newspaper screen that kishore did not turn for recoording and music composers lp had to call yesudas.
They tried to convince producer to condone kishor.
in interview kisor said why should my son hang up outside his bungalow for requesting guest appearance and finally i called rajesh khanna to do guest role.
Kishore eccentric but not unprofessional. if you check in man movie under Lp where rafi sang many songs kishore was asked to sing a nonsense hutut u song and he sang it.

Shrreram lagu in an interview around kuli time said that he was asked to work with amitabh and initially he was scared as he heard amitabh insults others but he did not have such experience i read that interviewin Marathu.

amitabh s anger was felt by him when amitabh said this song is dne very fast and he wont be able to shoot it. but roshan said inspite of the power he had to change md or not include the song he did shoot it as the song was excllenticonic.
But picturization is poor. amitabh later onn tried to cover it as then produceer wanted to not to have the song but amitabh insisted that if thisnsong is not there he wont work in this movie.
Another incident rr told of recording pardesiya. miat sai roshan and nudging him tby standing at his back that oif u have composed the song so well kisho should sing it well also.
roshan said he was after lata for a particular mood in that song while mitabh nudging him and finally the song recorded.
around purnachandra mmovie the news was there that mmds amar utpal were relived as kishore came for recording andheri ratome
the bappi lahiri story is not correct that he brought the peace.
NO another story of the duet ijane do innshahenshah whch composerswanted to rerecord as it was slow ' lata agred and said kishor will agree if it is recorded on sunday . on sunday kishor came but refused to sing. so mohd azz was called. It seems that afterb this andheri rato me he recorded. it seemsamitah wanted to criticize and relace kishoere so he had no optiion but to boycott amitabh and so boycotted lp recording and refused to resing. but he has to comercially survive so he recorded andheri rat me

kishore had am miracle in aradhana and replaced rafi at age of 40

so rather than counting this as eccentricities of kishore xall that he was rather forced .
